How Pool Safety Inspections Work
- All Victorian pools and spas are required to be registered with the relevant local Council
- The Council will notify owners of the date of construction of their pool/spa, the applicable Australian Standard and the date a Certificate of Barrier Compliance is be lodged with Council
- Owners are required to obtain the services of a licensed pool & spa barrier Inspector
- The Inspector will undertake an inspection of the barrier using the relevant Australian Standard
- Once the pool or spa barrier is deemed compliant the Inspector will issue the owner a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (Form 23)
- Owners are then required to lodge the Certificate of Barrier Compliance with their council prior to the date stipulated in the letter from Council. The certificate is generally uploaded to the Council website or mailed to the Council
